Not all fishing boats are the same. Our fleet of modern sport fishing boats is the best and most luxurious on Oahu.


Each boat is spacious (ranging from 46 to 53 feet), air conditioned and, most importantly, crewed by professional fishermen that are experts at sport fishing on Oahu.

The Fish

The waters of Oahu offer some of the best sport fishing in the world. With deep water just three miles offshore, large fish are easily accessible.

Targeted game fish include blue, black and striped marlin, mahi mahi (dorado), ahi (yellow fin tuna), ono (wahoo), and aku (skipjack tuna).

Although there is some seasonality, all of these fish can be caught year round.

Catching Fish

The most important factor in catching fish is the knowledge of the captain and crew of your boat. Knowing where to go and how to fish on any given day makes all the difference.

Our captains and crews are true professionals dedicated to sport fishing on Oahu, and they consistently help our guests bring home some of the largest catches on the island.

Using professional grade equipment and techniques, they will help you to “land the big one”.

Fish are caught by trolling with lures or live bait. Primary fishing areas are from three to twenty five miles offshore.

The Private Charter Advantage

Yacht Charters Hawaii only offers private sport fishing charters because the true excitement of sport fishing is reeling in the fish.

Battling a marlin or other large game fish is an exhilarating “man versus beast” type of experience that can take up to an hour.

With a private charter you are assured that you and the people with you are the ones who will experience this thrill.

On shared charters you have about an 80% chance of standing around watching someone else have all the fun when the big one strikes.

Different Charter Durations

Our sports fishing charters depart at 6 AM and are available in four, six and eight hour durations. If the fish are really biting we’ll give you the option of staying out longer at no additional charge.

Longer charters, by nature, give you a better chance of catching fish. We strongly recommend the eight hour charters, as we have over 90% success in catching sport fish on these trips.

Who Keeps the Fish?

Generally, the crew will keep the fish you catch and sell it to supplement their income.

If you want to keep some fish for yourself we will be glad to clean and bag it for you as long as it doesn’t go to waste.

Trophy fish mounting is also available for an additional charge.
